I can sit up!!

Kensie is now 7 months old. And today she officially sat up on her own. We have been propping her up in a Boppy or Bumbo chair for months now. But today Chris said he dropped her off at daycare and just sat her down all on her own and she stayed up. So, when we got home, we tried again and it worked. She really seems to love the freedom of sitting. She is able to grab toys she wants and push the buttons on her toys that make noise. It is really amazing... at least to us.

Visit with Mimi and Grandcrow

This weekend Kensie's grandparents visited. It was a fun time, relaxing and enjoying each others' company. After Kensie went to bed at night, we played some Wii bowling and watched the Oscar's. One night Chris and I got to go out to dinner at our favorite restaurant, Bricco.

During the visit, Kensie showed off many of her new "skills" obtained since Christmas. For example, she is more able to show how hungry she is. If you hold a bottle in front of her, and don't put it in right away, she will open her mouth really big! Like she is saying... "I am ready, c'mon!!" She is also getting adventuresome in her eating... this weekend the new food was blueberries!
Here is a great picture of Kensie and Mimi, posing in front of the flowers she got for Valentine's day.

Kensie had a lot of fun with Grandcrow, touching his beard and laughing at his funny sounds and faces.

Squash

Kensie tried a new food tonight. Squash! Personally, I do not like squash at all, but there really aren't that many baby food choices out there for "stage 1." And I heard that you shouldn't start the fruits until she is used to the veggies and eats them easily. So squash it was... In the video you can see her doing her Mad-Eye-Moody impression a few times. It was entertaining to say the least!

Active Kensie

Now a days Kensie likes to play... a lot. She needs constant stimulation. The good news is she will entertain herself for a while with toys or by bouncing in her jumperoo, so we don't have to be with her every second she is awake.

Her grabbing skills are getting pretty good. And she can sit up for a long time with a boppy or chair behind her. Yesterday Chris wanted to see how well she would sit up without any support and she fell back after a few seconds and bonked her head on the wood floor!

She really likes to take her socks off now, so only the tightest socks actually make it the whole day.

We are still feeding Kensie little portions of baby food -- peas and carrots so far. I want to try something new, but it takes forever to finish the container when she eats so little. Last night I let her taste hummus from my finger. She loved it! Or maybe she just smiled because I was smiling at her. You never know with her...
