Step 1: Dive in, face first... before mom can get a "before picture" of you smiling with your first birthday cake!

Step 2: Examine cake for chocolately goodness...

Step 3: Glare at the paparazzi...

Step 4: Dive in again, to avoid the paparazzi!

Repeat until cake is all gone!!!

A day in West Hartford

Today we tried to really "live it up" in West Hartford. Because, in less than a week, we are moving away! Our afternoon went something like this... Parked across from the Starbucks (somehow managed NOT to go in). Went to Elbow Room for brunch. Kensie shared in our breakfasts of corn beef hash, eggs, and toast. We sat outside, and Kensie stared at the passers-by with no shame.... craning her head around at the most odd people! Walked down to BlueBack Square, shopped for bargains in our usual haunts (B&N, Janie & Jack). Window shopped in Crate & Barrel (how cute would that bedroom set be for Kensie!!). Stopped by this new gourmet Burger joint called "The Counter" and grabbed a to-go menu so we can get take out tomorrow. Got a smoothie at Robek Juice (WHY did we wait so long to try this place??). What a delicious end to our afternoon downtown! PS: Sorry no pictures of my own to go with this post. My camera was totally out of batteries... =(
