Last week we went to Charleston to celebrate Chris's graduation from NYU and my birthday (the big 31). We stayed in a beach condo on the Isle of Palms, which is about a 20 minute drive to downtown Charleston. The weather was less than desirable most days, with cold weather and lots of rain. But, we made the best of our days indoors by playing games and going to indoor activities, like the aquarium.
Chris and I managed to get to lunch one sunny day at Wild Wings Cafe, which we have missed dearly, since moving away from Athens, GA. The wings were as great as we remembered; and we got a 25 wing platter with 5 different flavors... because we just couldn't choose any less! My new favorite is now "Slayer," which is a super garlicy, and pretty hot flavor. I have come a long way since only eating lemon pepper, many moons ago.
One great area of Charleston is this long stretch along the coast. There are huge homes, with columns and beautiful gardens. We liked to start our walks at this neat park with the cannon ball statues all around it. And what would be a trip with team Meyers without LOTS of great food! We had two very memorable meals... one at Magnolia's and the other at 82 Queen. The seafood was generally good everywhere we ate, especially when it was paired with creamy grits! Kensie was very good throughout the whole trip, letting us go out just about anytime. She would usually fall asleep during dinner, so we could linger and enjoy great wine, company, and sometimes even dessert!
